Components
Our customized cam indexing table solution for customers is mainly composed of several parts.
Cam Indexer
The core actuator is responsible for converting continuous input motion into precise intermittent indexing motion. It ensures that the turntable stops and rotates accurately at each station, which is the basis for achieving synchronous operation and high consistency in multiple stations.
Planetary Gearbox
The main function of connecting the servo motor and indirectly connecting with the cam indexer through the synchronous wheel and timing belt system is to convert the high speed and low torque output of the motor into the low speed and high torque drive required by the cam indexer, and at the same time improve the rigidity and control accuracy of the system.
Timing Wheels And Timing Belts
Used to transmit the power output of the planetary gearbox to the cam indexer. This drive effectively isolates motor vibrations and ensures precise synchronization between the indexer and the drive source without slippage.
Proximity Sensor And Signal Cam
Form a position feedback system to detect the state of the indexer in real time (stationary or indexing). They provide accurate indexing and safety interlocking signals for higher-level control systems (e.g. PLCs), which are key to synchronous control of the entire automation system.
Case Study
The customer is a consumer electronics packaging factory, and the production cycle of the cam indexer drive system originally used in their equipment is 60 times per minute, but the customer's order volume has increased recently, and the production cycle of the original production line cannot meet the production demand. In order to increase the cycle time of the production line to 100 beats per minute, but the customer did not understand the principle of the drivetrain, they forcibly increased the input speed, resulting in noisy noise, jitter and packaging failure of the entire transmission system.
So the customer was looking for an article on how to maintain the cam Indexer and found us. When our engineer team was working and technical docking with the customer, it was found that the customer's motor input speed exceeded the rated speed of the original transmission system, and the internal temperature rise of the system was too high and lubrication failure, which caused structural damage.
After understanding the customer's problem, the engineer guided the customer to disassemble the transmission system and found that the structure was seriously damaged, and it was necessary to purchase a suitable cam indexing table again. According to the customer's needs, the engineer found that the traditional motor + reducer + cam indexing table solution could not meet the working conditions.
To break through this bottleneck, a new power and indexing core must be designed. After calculations and simulations, our engineers boldly proposed an unprecedented solution: a high-precision cam indexer and an ultra-rigid planetary gearbox with a synchronous pulley for an integrated design.
In this solution, we used a custom-made high-speed pre-compensated cam curve for the cam indexing table we produced for our customers, ensuring a smooth transition from high-speed operation to instantaneous stop. The customized planetary gearbox has reinforced the internal gears and output bearings, so that it can transmit the power of the motor while digesting the inertial load of the motor. The indirect connection of the timing belt and the synchronous wheel optimizes the structural layout and cushions the cam indexing table, which is more advantageous than the direct connection.
