About Custom Nylon Gear

Tooth Root Breakage

This failure mode is often caused by unexpected shock loads or insufficient toughness of the material, causing one or more teeth of the gear to break from the root, ultimately leading to complete drivetrain failure.

In the design stage, finite element analysis (FEA) software is used to simulate stress to optimize the root shape and avoid stress concentration. In the production stage, we will choose PA6 or toughened nylon with excellent impact resistance, and strictly control the production process to eliminate internal defects.

Excessive Surface Wear

This failure mode is due to the presence of contaminating particles in the transmission system, excessive loading, or insufficient wear resistance of the material. This leads to excessive wear of the gear surface material, resulting in increased clearance, reduced accuracy, and vibration.

In terms of material selection, we will choose reinforced nylon materials with glass fiber or molybdenum disulfide to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the gears.

Increased Noise & Vibration

This mode may result in significantly increased gear operating noise due to poor installation alignment, insufficient gear accuracy, or smaller side clearance after moisture absorption, accompanied by vibration, affecting the experience and equipment life.

Provide technical support to customers while providing humidity control to all precision nylon gears to stabilize the size and fundamentally avoid noise problems caused by moisture absorption and expansion.
