Casting Process of Pump Housing


Mold Design & Manufacturing
Based on the product digital model, the casting process is simulated and analyzed, and the mold containing the gate riser system, cavity and core is designed. Mold steel (such as H13) is then used to manufacture molds through precision machining techniques such as CNC and EDM.

Raw Material Preparation & Melting
The raw materials used are heated and melted in a melting furnace, and then refined and metamorphosed to improve the quality of the liquid metal.

Mold Preparation
Before clamping and pouring, the mold needs to be pre-treated to achieve the best condition. The mold is usually heated to 200-300C to prevent the metal liquid from being overcooled. After preheating, a layer of special refractory coating should be evenly sprayed on the surface of the cavity to protect the mold, control cooling and facilitate demolding.

Pouring & Solidification
The processed metal liquid is poured into a container of the automated die casting equipment, which pours the molten metal into the mold at a controlled temperature and speed. In this process, the well-designed riser continues to provide metal liquid for shrinkage, effectively avoiding shrinkage and shrinkage inside the casting, so as to obtain a densely structured blank casting.

Mold Opening & Cleaning
When the casting in the cavity has solidified and cooled to sufficient strength (still at a high temperature), the casting is removed from the mold using an ejection mechanism or manipulator. At this time, the casting also has a grating riser system, flash and burrs, which need to be removed by cutting, tapping, etc., and then shot blasting, using high-speed projectiles to impact the surface of the casting to remove residual scale, paint and obtain a smooth surface appearance.

Heat Treatment
For aluminum alloy castings like A356, heat treatment is a critical step in ensuring that they achieve the desired mechanical properties, usually using the classic T6 heat treatment process. This process could improve the strength, hardness and dimensional stability of the casting.

Machining
This step uses CNC and other precision machine tools to turn, mill, drill, and tap key parts of the blank. Ensure that the dimensional accuracy, shape and position tolerances, and surface finish of the part meet the final product requirements.
